The NetApp® NearStore® virtual tape library (VTL) is a disk-to-disk backup appliance that appears like a tape library to a backup software application but provides the superior speed and reliability of disk technologies. The NearStore VTL reduces management costs and dramatically improves backup and recovery performance while leveraging existing investments in infrastructure, backup software and processes.

The NearStore VTL can be used to back up any open system storage environment—including those of EMC, Hitachi, HP, and IBM—and is certified for use with leading enterprise backup software, including software from BakBone, CA, CommVault, HP, Legato, Symantec, Syncsort, and Tivoli.

Available in capacities from 4.5TB to 168TB, the NearStore VTL provides a simple, nondisruptive solution that improves the backup process for virtually any data center environment.
